Friday 25 November 2011My first two albums are now available to buy on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Zune, Rhapsody, Nokia, Vervelife, MediaNet and eMusic. There are also ringtones available for iPhones of both "See the Light" and "Who Are You?". Head over to the "Buy Our Music " tab to buy directly from Amazon or iTunes. This is a major plus for us, but standard CDs are still available if you wish - just send us an email.
Monday 15 November 2011Well, we had our second mega concert at Our Lady of the Assumption on Sunday, and what an absolute corker it was! The first half was given over to modern Christian music which included a lot of my stuff, and the second was a combination of some of the best loved songs from both "Godspell" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" It was spectacular with a capital "S", and the church was reassuringly packed. We had sponsors for this even which allowed us to purchase lighting equipment that really added to the whole atmosphere (as well as a lot of smoke!). There were many fabulous moments, but the highlight was my mate Kevin Fitzpatrick singing "Gethsemene" - I started doing an arrangement for this nearly fifteen years ago, and it was wonderful - Kev made the song his own. I can't wait for next year now! Rumour has it that my new album and a certain thing called "Sister Act" might feature heavily!
Saturday 13 March 2010Started work on the new album a couple of weeks ago. I usually get ideas as I am walking around, and then come home singing them in my head. At that stage I fire up the (incredibly useful) Zoom H2 portable device and record at least the melody. It may sit there for several months before I get round to doing anything with it and, because I have been so busy with Anam Cara lately, nothing has been happening with the new music. Now, however, I have made a start, and I have three songs in development one of which, titled "By Your Cross" I am very excited about. It has an "anthematic" feel, and I can see choirs of children and all sorts of things with this one. At the moment I am waiting for Teresa to write the lyrics - she wants to do this one, but has been very busy herself of late. I will keep you posted as things develop!
Tuesday 02 February 2010My first CD is now completed, mixed, semi-mastered and sent off to a publisher for assessment. That’s the good news, but the bad news is that it is going to take said publisher four months to actually listen to it, which is a tad frustrating. In addition, because the music is religious-based, the potential for publishing is significantly reduced, and the largest UK publisher of this type of music (Kingsway) are not taking any submissions at all at the moment due to re-organisation. Still, I hope that any staff involved are ok. The tracks on the album are all self-composed (with the exception of “The Yorkshire Gloria” which was a joint effort between me, Mike Baldwin, Phil Hall, Martin Trask and Geoff Hanby), and are as follows:
